KIBUGA, THE NATION'S TREE WITH MILK AND HONEY

On an evening walk around Luzira Valley, I meet the Kibuga god. This is the only fire-flamed ogre who is worshipped and celebrated mainly by the greedy, powerful, most elite and rich citizens of an ''astonished'' country called Kyennju.

Kibuga is the origin of power, riches, greed and so many evils for his faithful servants in Kyennju. These servants are also in charge of initiating their fellows into the cult. He told me that this is the most challenging project he has seen since his rule in Kyennju.

‘’It’s a huge one that started lightheartedly, and none of the Kyennju citizens can tell how far it will go but the other gods are likely to dustbin it in flames of fire because I’ve aged my son’’ says Kibuga with teary eyes.

Kibuga looks humble, promising, assumes a lot of power and influence which he tells me is the same character his followers should show in their communities. Disappointed, I failed to understand what positive qualities he really has with his burnt lips.

To Kibuga followers, after being given what they desire, they face a lot of trouble as a result of his bounty gifts. There have been many reports of how heartbreaking this is, but the truth is, they cannot leave his kingdom unless they are willing to die for it.

After the bounty gifts from Kibuga, his followers claim to be the most holy. They cover up a lot of evil and weird actions that always happen in case one of them gets a problem. In most cases it's either sickness or death.

It is a lie that they falsely and confidently tell non-followers what truly caused their cult member's problems when they gather in a 'famous' house where they have many possessions, which overwhelms Kibuga with anger. ‘’Yeah, what you saw is not the first and last.

I’ll continue showing up on a number of burial occasions in case my servant’s spirit comes to me’’ says Kibuga as I say goodbye to him.
